About Long Man Dog Grooming

I’m Gail and these are my beloved terriers Reggie, Riley and Poppy.

I grew up with a variety of animals at home including dogs, cats, sheep, goats, mice, gerbils, ducks, horses and a cow.

Although loving all animals great and small, horses and dogs became an important part of my adult life.

Having owned my own horses and enjoyed clipping them over a number of decades, it seemed a natural progression when I sadly lost my last horse, to start trimming and grooming my own dogs.

In order to improve my skills (and their interesting home haircuts) I decided to embark upon professional training with the South Coast Dog Grooming Academy in Worthing where I received expert tuition, gaining a deeper knowledge of canine care and learning new grooming skills and techniques. The course also included emmi-pet teeth cleaning training and canine first aid.

Completing my qualifications and embracing my passion for the company and wellbeing of our canine companions, has now led me to a career change after working for 30 years locally as a customer services manager.

Living in Wilmington within the South Downs National Park, we are so lucky to enjoy stunning countryside walks from our doorstep.

Walking up on The Downs twice a day with my own adored dogs in all weathers, I meet so many fellow dog walkers, embracing the wonderful outdoors come rain and shine.

The pure joy of being in the company of my own dogs and learning to care for their coats, teeth and nails has inspired me to set up the Long Man Dog Grooming salon, so I can now offer my professional grooming services to others.
